Children’s Mental Health Week, Recognising the People Who Help Young People Feel They Belong
Children’s Mental Health Week takes place from 9 to 15 February, bringing national attention to the importance of supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people. This year’s theme, This is My Place, highlights how a sense of belonging can have a powerful impact on confidence, resilience and overall mental health.
For many young people, feeling safe, accepted and understood is not something that happens by chance. It is created through the dedication of carers, support workers, teachers and professionals who work every day to build nurturing environments where children can express themselves and feel valued.
At Pollard’s Promises, we see first hand the difference that compassionate, consistent support can make. Across the care sector there are individuals and teams who go above and beyond to ensure young people feel heard, included and supported during some of the most important stages of their lives. Equally, we regularly witness the determination and resilience shown by young people as they overcome challenges and grow in confidence.
Children’s Mental Health Week provides an important moment to recognise both.
To mark the week, Pollard’s Promises is inviting nominations that celebrate those who are making a meaningful difference to the wellbeing of children and young people. This includes carers, support staff and professionals who help create safe, supportive spaces, as well as young people whose progress, courage or positive impact deserves to be recognised.
By sharing these stories, we hope to shine a light on the everyday actions that help children feel that they belong, because feeling part of a community is often the foundation for stronger mental health and brighter futures.
If you know someone who has made a positive difference to a young person’s wellbeing, we encourage you to submit a nomination and help us celebrate the people who are quietly changing lives every day.
