We first met this wonderful group of mums when Pollard’s Promises had a stall at the Carers Festival in Brighton.

Carly nominated the group because, as four mums caring for children with additional needs, they have become each other’s biggest source of support.

They have no support network beyond their partners and each other, after losing the support group they had been part of. Despite everything they are facing, they continue to be there for one another.

Their wish was to enjoy a day out all together at Knockhatch Adventure Park, with one very special reason for going: Theresa’s love of capybaras!

Theresa also has physical health problems, but, as Carly explained, she never stops making the group laugh and keeping everyone going.

We were so pleased to be able to make this day happen and give these four mums and their families the chance to spend some much-needed time together, make memories and simply enjoy being together.

Carly and the group sent us this lovely message afterwards:

'Thank you so much for given us such a lovely day out my family had such a lovely day, it was desperately needed for us.

Our families had great days, and we appreciate your gesture so much.

Please keep doing what you are doing its so lovely and, in a world, where it can feel you get little reward such a nice treat can mean the world.

We are going through an incredibly tough time at the moment with our daughter, but that day out was probably the happiest I have seen her in I cannot remember how long. She loved feeding the animals and finding a sloth to buy in the gift shop at the end (new current obsession). It really made a difference so thank you to you and all the team for giving us that day.'

We’re incredibly grateful to Carly for nominating these four amazing mums, and we're delighted that their day at Knockhatch gave them some happiness, laughter and memories to treasure.

And, of course, we hope Theresa got plenty of capybara time! 🦫️💜
