At Pollards Promises, we believe it’s never too late to make a dream come true. For Elisabeth Wilson, a 99-year-old resident at Bernhard Care Home, that dream was to take to the skies and enjoy a flight over the beautiful South Downs before her 100th birthday in March 2027.

Nominated by Jasmine Mcfetters, Elisabeth’s wish was one we were delighted to make a reality!

Despite facing health challenges, Elisabeth has never let them stop her from enjoying life and pushing her limits. From walking an incredible 7.5 miles along Eastbourne seafront to dreaming of flying in an aircraft, Elisabeth continues to show a wonderful determination to embrace new experiences.

Living in a care home, Elisabeth rarely asks for anything for herself. That’s why making this special wish happen meant so much.

We arranged for Elisabeth to enjoy a 60-minute flying lesson in a C152 aircraft, giving her the chance to experience the skies above the South Downs. But the experience was even more special than she could have imagined, as Elisabeth was given the opportunity to take the controls and fly the plane herself!

It was a truly memorable experience and a wonderful way to celebrate her adventurous spirit ahead of her milestone 100th birthday.

The joy of Elisabeth’s experience was beautifully captured in the heartfelt message we received following her wish:

“We would like to say a massive thankyou to you for yesterday and making a wish come true! Thank you so much for your kindness. It really made her day and, on the way, back she stated that she had had the best morning of her life! so, credit to you all for making this possible.”

Hearing that Elisabeth had enjoyed the best morning of her life is exactly why we do what we do at Pollards Promises. Moments like these remind us that age is no barrier to adventure and that sometimes, the most extraordinary experiences come from making a simple dream a reality.

Elisabeth’s story is a beautiful reminder to keep dreaming, keep exploring and never stop embracing life’s opportunities. We are incredibly proud to have helped fulfil her wish and give her a memory to treasure.
