At Pollard’s Promises, we’re often left speechless by the strength, determination, and quiet resilience of those we meet and Stella Harvey is no exception.
Stella, a resident at Ashefields Residential Care Home, was nominated by Lesley Rowan for a very special reason. Having suffered a stroke before moving into the home, Stella worked incredibly hard on her recovery, progressing from being immobile, to walking with a frame, and eventually managing with just a stick. Her determination and courage were nothing short of inspiring.
Sadly, life threw another challenge her way. Stella suffered a fall and broke her ankle. With surgery delayed for three weeks, she endured an eight-week hospital stay and returned to the care home back at square one, facing the journey of learning to walk all over again.
Despite these setbacks, Stella continues to show immense strength and spirit. She doesn’t have family close by, which is why we were so moved by Lesley’s nomination. It was clear Stella deserved a gesture of kindness to show her that her perseverance has not gone unnoticed.
To honour her journey, we were proud to gift Stella a beautiful photo frame, something to hold the memories and moments that bring her joy.
Stella, your strength reminds us all that progress isn’t always easy, but with heart and determination, every step counts. You are not alone, and we’re all cheering you on.
With love from everyone at Pollard’s Promises 💛
