At Pollard’s Promises, we believe every milestone deserves to be celebrated, and Don’s 100th birthday is certainly one worth honouring. Nominated by Roshnie, Director, and Dino, Manager, Don has brought so much joy and warmth to those around him over the years. From his time serving as an air cadet for four years to his work in electronics as a telephone fitter and motor mechanic, Don has lived a fascinating and hardworking life filled with dedication and passion.

One thing that makes Don especially loved at the care home is his enthusiasm for photography. You will often spot photos around the home that have been lovingly taken by Don himself, capturing precious memories and smiling faces. His creativity and kindness continue to brighten the lives of residents and staff alike.

When the care home spoke with Don’s family about how best to celebrate this incredible milestone, they shared how much he has always loved flowers and gardening. Yellow roses, in particular, are among his favourites, and they hoped a rose bush would encourage him to spend more time enjoying the warmer weather outdoors while also bringing beauty for other residents to enjoy.

After discussions with the family, it was decided that a yellow rose bush placed in a large pot would be the perfect gift. Positioned outside Don’s bedroom balcony, it will be easy for him to care for and admire each day. Alongside his love for flowers, Don also enjoys lemonade and chocolate, making for a few extra thoughtful treats to help make his special birthday even more memorable.
