At Pollard’s Promises, we love recognising the people who go above and beyond to make a meaningful difference to those in their care. This time, we’re celebrating Nisha, Senior Care Assistant at Rushey Mead Manor, who was nominated by Rachel Brown from Clarendon Group for a very special Spa Hamper.

Here’s why Nisha was nominated:

“I would like to nominate Nisha, Senior Care Assistant at Rushey Mead Manor, for her outstanding contribution, professionalism, compassion, and leadership during a sensitive end-of-life care situation involving one of our residents.

Although this went beyond her usual responsibilities as a Senior Care Assistant, Nisha took the initiative to sit down with the family and have an honest, compassionate, and supportive conversation. She explained clearly how end-of-life care works and what it means to keep a resident comfortable, pain-free, and cared for with dignity. She listened to the family’s concerns and helped them understand the care and support already in place for their mother/grandmother.  

Nisha approached the conversation with empathy, patience, and professionalism. She explained the role of the care team, how the family would continue to be involved, and how home-based end-of-life care could support the resident in a calm and familiar environment.

Following the meeting with Nisha, the main next of kin sent an email to the care home confirming that they wished for their mother/ grandmother to be kept comfortable and to receive home-based care. They also thanked the team for the meeting they had with Nisha, showing that her approach had reassured the family and helped them reach a clear and unified decision.

This example demonstrates Nisha’s exceptional dedication, maturity, communication skills, and compassion. She showed true leadership by stepping forward when the situation required sensitivity and confidence. She went beyond her job role to support not only the resident, but also the family, the staff team, and the home as a whole.

Nisha is a valued member of the Rushey Mead Manor team and this situation is a clear example of her commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care. She deserves recognition for the way she handled such a challenging and emotional situation with professionalism, kindness, and courage.”
