At Pollard’s Promises, we believe in recognising and rewarding the incredible individuals who make a real difference in the world of care. Whether it’s a moment of extraordinary kindness, ongoing dedication, or simply going above and beyond when it matters most, we’re here to celebrate those people and make their wishes come true.
This month, we’re proud to share the story of our latest fulfilled promise Zane Drake-Donaldson from Broomfield Care who has been nominated by Tracey Ryan for his outstanding commitment and compassion as a Support Worker.
He has gained such confidence and knowledge, and he has grown into one of the most amazing support workers. Zane is a genuine caring person and provides an outstanding service for our clients and their families; he is quick and keen to learn new skills and qualities and improve his knowledge across different settings.
Zane quickly becomes aware of the individual routines and requirements for each new Service User that he visits and demonstrates empathy and his responsiveness, and commitment to improving their well-being is evident. Some recent unprompted feedback is just one of the many reasons why he so deserves this recognition.
"As you know, I am very pleased with all the people who come to give Dad his shower, but I thought today was truly outstanding. Zane came round and I took the opportunity to listen into the conversation he had with Dad.
Although Dad was repeating himself, asking the same old questions as in all previous visits, such as where Zane lived and how long he had been doing the job, Zane's responses were remarkable.
Although he is very young, he is incredibly mature for his age and so, so good with Dad. He answered every repeated question with the same level of courtesy and enthusiasm as if it was the first time he was asked.
I was in awe. I kept on thinking "How does Zane do it?".
I hope you will pass on my huge thanks to Zane; today was a textbook case on how to perfectly deal with someone who has Alzheimer's."
Zane’s wish, a £50 Halfords voucher was suggested by his colleague, who felt it would be something he’d really appreciate. We were thrilled to make it happen. Whether he uses it to support his travel, hobbies, or something else entirely, we hope it brings a well-deserved smile to his face, just as he brings joy and care to those he supports.
Zane’s story is a powerful reminder of the heart, patience, and dedication that carers bring to their roles every day. At Pollard’s Promises, we’re honoured to be part of recognising those moments and celebrating the people behind them.
Congratulations, Zane and thank you for everything you do.
